dragons on roofs on ridge tiles in essexRoof dragons are often heard but almost never seen--such is their penchant for privacy and peace. They live a nomadic life, moving at their personal, mysterious whim from rooftop to rooftop during the dark of night, rarely staying in one place for more than a few hours before flying to another roof or the roofs of another sleeping town. No one knows why these dragons have taken to make a home on some houses among the chimneys and rooftiles above us. The speculation is that once they have found a happy home they are more than content to stay perched on the roof guarding the family from from evil and bringing them prosperity. Roof dragons are thought to range from one to three meters in length including a long prehensile tail used for balance on roof tiles. Little is known of their temperament save that we have little to fear. In fact, the creaks and groans and scrabble-scratch noises we sometimes hear about us at night should be considered the best of luck, for no dreadful beast of the night will ever come close to a dragon-guarded roof, and children in bed below need have no fear as they sleepily drift into their own worlds of adventure and happy dreams.
